Hay muchos gatos!

So I took a nap this afternoon because last night I was ready to go to bed at about 9:30. Naps are always when the most hilarious dreams happen, and during mine I wanted to write about the story that was going on in my blog because it was so funny, so I figured I'd share since I thought it was so funny at the time.

First of all, there was a long hammock that stretched across the street outside my apartment. What a bizarre placement for a hammock. Me and Kaitlin chilled in it for awhile, and when a car inevitably came I yelled for Kaitlin to jump up.

We went with a big group of people to the lobby of our apartment building, where many things were going on. In the parking lot (which is non-existenent in the real world), there was a big truck/van with a little boy and lots of his toys. I guess he was a rich little boy. He was just hangin out, hugging his humongous teddy bear constantly. A little while later in the dream I looked back over and saw the truck hit the breaks fast, and tons of liquid poured on the toys and they all fell out of the back. The little boy was faithful to his teddy bear though, and ran straight for it and hugged it despite the wetness.

Back to the lobby. There was a group of Americans talking about what CDs they wanted to listen to. They all climbed in a big van and I wondered where they were going. Turns out they were a group from Ohio who had only raised 1% of their support to come here, so some of my team was driving with them to take them somewhere. (This happened probably because I know of a spring break team that was supposed to come to Venezuela from Ohio but their tickets were for February, not March! It's all going to work out though, Praise God!)

Everyone left (I didn't go because I didn't know about it so I wasn't prepared) and some woman was with me who I had never seen before. I didn't know if she spoke English or Spanish. I asked her her name in Spanish (which was Leanna just in case you wanted to know). I tried the lock on our door but it was the wrong building. A teeny tiny little dog was running around and trying to nibble at our feet, so we hurried to the next building to try it.

At this point I woke up, but I wanted to see how the dream turned out (and I was still tired) so I went back to sleep (crazy that even after getting up and going to the bathroom I fell asleep instantly when I hit the pillow and started the dream again).

Me and Leanna walked over to 3 different apartment buildings to try to get in. It was very scary because it's pretty dangerous and it was dark outside, so we were very anxious to get finally get in. We found the wrong place again and started walking in the right direction. However, in our path were some very viscious-looking cats! As I kept looking around, I kept seeing more and more hidden, hissing cats staring at us. Some of them were also very small, like the dog from earlier in the dream. I knew they were going to start attacking us, so I observed in Spanish that
there were many cats!! (Hay muchos gatos)

On Leanna's count to 3, we started running as fast as we could! We were running fast EASILY and I was laughing at how hard we were running. I normally can't run fast in dreams so that was pretty fun. We were running straight along a path and I saw the path turn and knew that I was going to run into one side of it with my leg since I knew I wouldn't be able to turn that quickly, but when I hit it I just picked up my leg and we kept going. While we were running I asked the woman her name again (in Spanish) because I had forgotten. It was still Leanna.

When we finally got inside, it was the right building. However, it was the side of the building where instead of just going in the front door, you have to go up 2 flights of stairs to get to the door. I complained that my roommates always know how to find the other door, but I don't know where it's at so I always end up having to use this one (I think I had been there before).

The staircase was something out of MC Escher's drawings. I went up the stairs and then was still one floor below the door. There was a painted door on the wall with miniscule steps, and somehow I jumped up from them to the right level where the door was. Leanna took the easy route and stayed on the original floor level and went up just one stair case so that she was able to come DOWN stairs to get to the right level (and I went up - that is nonsense - I've been thinking about Alice in Wonderland too much lately!). I also finally figured out that she spoke English, not Spanish! So I felt silly for talking to her in Spanish so much.

  1. This was a funny dream! I think my favorite part was "my roommates always know how to find the other door" haha.

And I love that you thought in Spanish in your dream! Has your Spanish improved a lot while in vz? One of my goals when I was in Spain was to dream in Spanish, b/c if I thought in Spanish that naturally, then I would have come a long way with the language- it happened once or twice, and i don't usually remember my dreams, so I was satisfied. I hope you were as excited about the language part of the dream as I was!

I read lots of your other recent entries too, I didn't realize so much time had passed! I'm glad all the craziness has worked out with flights and villas and everything! We'll have to hang out some this summer- I assume at least some of your time will be in Richmond since you'll be support raising? I want to hear more stories in person :)
